Position: Instructor, GBO

As a pivotal member of our team at Science and Engineering Services, the Instructor I, GBO is responsible for overseeing air traffic operations and delivering advisory updates to the flight crew, ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage expertise in local operational procedures to monitor air traffic effectively, ensuring clear communication to the team to uphold safe operating standards.
  • Assist in managing the unit's flight schedule and participate in unit activities, including regular attendance at Flight Briefs.
  • Compile and submit monthly, weekly, and daily reports to the Senior GBO through electronic, written, and verbal communication.
  • Utilize the GBSAA system to monitor airspace and recommend heading adjustments while maintaining minimum separation between aircraft.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive records to support flight operations.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials for the Ground Based Sense and Avoid System (GBSAA); may also engage in student training, grading, and evaluation of examinations.
  • Assist System Maintenance Technicians (SMT) with necessary repairs.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and apply training design methodologies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Exhibit exceptional skills in developing and integrating course content, materials, and media to meet specified deliverables, including necessary repairs to the GBSAA hardware.
  • Be available to work flexible hours to accommodate both day and night flight operations.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to the aircrew, demonstrating strong analytical skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • FAA A&P or Military Equivalent required.
  • Completion of the Army Instructor Training Course-TAITC or FAA equivalent preferred.
  • Annual proficiency certifications must be successfully completed.

Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation training is required; experience in Platform Training and Courseware Development is preferred, particularly for those with a background as a Former enlisted or Warrant Officer Air Traffic Controller or US Army Lesson Developer.
  • Security clearance is required.
