Pretrial Officer

Clermont County Municipal Court is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pretrial Officer to join our team. As a Pretrial Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety and upholding the principles of justice.

Under the supervision of the Director, the Pretrial Officer will be responsible for supervising, monitoring, and drug testing defendants who are under supervision due to conditions of bond. The successful candidate will also set bond review hearings, maintain detailed activity/case notes, and investigate and prepare bond violation reports for bond review hearings.

• Supervise and monitor defendants under supervision due to conditions of bond
• Set bond review hearings and maintain detailed activity/case notes
• Investigate and prepare bond violation reports for bond review hearings
• Testify as needed at bond review hearings
• Drug test defendants in the pretrial phase as requested by the Courts
• Retrieve files, disseminate paperwork, and people from Court dockets
• Complete PSI/ILC intake work on newly referred cases
• Retrieve files from the Prosecutor's Office and copy necessary information
• Calibrate drug and alcohol testing devices
• Act as a liaison between courier services, the laboratory, and the Adult Probation Department

• Basic knowledge of correctional philosophies, theories, and practices
• Good writing and communication skills
• Ability to maintain good public relations and confidentiality
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to work with defendants of various social and economic backgrounds
• Ability to exercise initiative and perform under stress
• Devotion to public safety and welfare
• Knowledge of community resources and ability to use them
• Candidate must be certified or possess the ability to become certified in the administration of the ORAS assessment tool
• Valid State of Ohio Motor Vehicle Operator's License required
