POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance and oversight of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team, the Senior Surgical Technician is responsible for the management of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment essential for various surgical procedures ranging from general to moderately complex.
This role requires a thorough understanding of the surgical procedures being conducted and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team members effectively.
Additionally, the technician provides support in patient preparation, transportation, and assists the surgical care team with specific patient care tasks to ensure safety and comfort.
The technician must respond to urgent situations following established protocols.EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is mandatory.
Completion of a Surgical Technology program is required.
In-depth knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR) is essential, along with expertise in surgical practices and techniques to provide patient care and assist surgeons in the O.R.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Current BLS certification is required or must be obtained within one month of employment.
Surgical Technologist certification is necessary, or 3-5 years of experience in supporting complex high-acuity surgical volumes may be accepted in lieu of certification.
