Job Title:

Supervising Dentist for Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene

About the Role:

Germanna Community College is seeking a highly qualified Supervising Dentist to join our Dental Department as a clinical adjunct professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering restorative dental services and providing clinical oversight to students assisting in the Dental Assisting I and II programs.

In addition, the Supervising Dentist will supervise dental hygiene students and examine and treat patients for comprehensive dental care in the Dental Hygiene program. The role also includes the opportunity to teach didactic portions of the curriculum as expertise in particular subjects may be needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver restorative dental services
  • Provide clinical oversight to students assisting in Dental Assisting I and II programs
  • Supervise dental hygiene students
  • Examine and treat patients for comprehensive dental care in the Dental Hygiene program
  • Teach didactic portions of the curriculum as needed
Requirements:
  • Licensed DDS in the state of Virginia
  • CDA from the Dental Assisting National Board and a Bachelor's degree for the Dental Assisting position
  • Registered Dental Hygienist with a Bachelor's degree for the Dental Hygiene position
  • Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Work experience in the field
  • Experience with on-line teaching
  • Master's of Science for the Dental Hygiene position
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
