Role Overview:
The Chief Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the maintenance division and the overall aesthetic and operational integrity of the hotel. This position is accountable for implementing the organization's maintenance and safety protocols, which encompass procurement, preventive maintenance, equipment servicing, security measures, and the supervision of the maintenance team. Delivering warm and knowledgeable service is essential to affirming our guests' choice to stay with us.
- Guarantee guest satisfaction by embodying and upholding the Guest Service Standards.
- Oversee and coordinate the tasks of the maintenance personnel, evaluating their performance to ensure adherence to established procedures and expectations.
- Optimize scheduling to meet financial targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Monitor financial plans and manage departmental expenditures, including maintenance contracts and utility costs.
- Contribute to the development of the annual operational budget and capital plans that align with the hotel's strategic goals.
- Ensure compliance with all corporate, state, local, and federal regulations concerning the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for staff, guests, and vendors.
- Maintain proper functionality of the hotel's systems and equipment, including life safety, telecommunications, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and kitchen appliances.
- Ensure timely and courteous handling of maintenance requests, including documentation and follow-up.
- Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of maintenance staff.
- Maintain regular communication with management regarding the condition of the building and its systems, providing prudent and cost-effective maintenance proposals.
- Supervise any external contractors engaged for maintenance tasks.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and work rules.
Qualifications and Skills:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Familiarity with industry standards and processes from major hotel brands is preferred.
