Cardiac Catheterization Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our Interventional Radiology service, you will be responsible for performing and assisting with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

• Perform digital angiographic imaging and other exams in the interventional room, positioning patients and providing immobilization preparation and patient counseling as required.
• Scrubs or circulates during procedures as needed, assisting physicians with catheter placement, instrument passage, instrument use, and imaging agent administration.
• Reviews orders, prepares schedules, and consults with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses.
• Maintains daily records of exams performed and follows all National Patient Safety Goals.
• Ensures accuracy of information and data entry while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Prepares sterile fields, imaging agents, trays, and instruments, ensuring sterility of surgical packs, trays, and disposables.
• Maintains appropriate and adequate supplies during procedures.
• Selects technical factors appropriate to the procedure being performed and ensures accuracy of patient identification information on all recorded images.
• Captures required documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and prepares, loads, programs, and operates the contrast injector.
• Assists with screening patients for contraindications and assists radiologists during procedures, maneuvering mechanical equipment around the patient.
• Operates and understands all features and performance capabilities of the digital imaging system.
• Post-processes digital images as required (3D, subtraction, unsubtracted, etc.) and prepares images for radiologist interpretation and transmission to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.
• Maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and devices and reports equipment malfunctions appropriately.
• Assumes responsibilities for patient needs during procedures and provides service-oriented communication with patients, explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Emphasizes a personalized, individualized, compassionate patient care atmosphere at all times.
• Dismisses patients for transport and/or assists with patient transport at the end of procedures.
• Provides instructions on appropriate safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required and ensures appropriate safety precautions are followed.
• Applies appropriate measures (ALARA Principles) for minimizing radiation exposure and captures and records radiation dose delivered during procedures.
• Functions as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.
• Maintains all materials needed and linen supply on a daily basis and maintains general order and cleanliness of the room assigned.

• Minimum three (3) years general radiology experience as a registered technologist.
• Minimum one (1) year special procedures/angiography experience as a registered technologist, including experience or successful completion of a training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in the area of specialty, if applicable.
• Associates degree in radiologic technology or two (2) years experience in a directly related area.
• Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.
• Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Radiography.

• Certification in Vascular-Interventional (VI) Radiography or Cardiac-Interventional (CI) Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association.
