Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Specialist at Wellstar Health System is a highly skilled and experienced nurse who plays a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care in the perioperative setting. This individual will be responsible for providing direct patient care, collaborating with the healthcare team, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs the Nursing Process: The Clinical Nurse Specialist will perform the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide individualized care to patients.
  • Provides Relationship-Based Patient-Centered Care: This nurse will provide relationship-based patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics, adapting service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity.
  • Partners with Patients and Families: The Clinical Nurse Specialist will partner with patients and families, using appropriate methods for setting and achieving goals, and keeping them updated on their care.
  • Practices Using Current Clinical Practice Standards: This nurse will practice using current clinical practice standards, demonstrating teamwork and collaboration, and promoting a respectful and inclusive clinical environment.
  • Coordinates Safe Quality Patient Care: The Clinical Nurse Specialist will coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care, promoting the professional care delivery model and diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement: This nurse will participate in performance improvement, research, and research utilization to promote safe and quality patient care, and actively supports shared governance at all levels in the system.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • Licensure: Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact, Basic Life Support or BLS - Instructor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support-Preferred or ACLS - Instructor-Preferred or ACLS - Provisional-Preferred, Pediatric Advanced Life Support-Preferred or PALS - Instructor-Preferred or PALS - Provisional-Preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years patient care as RN.
  • Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak English language, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care, strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills, ability to function in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent time management skills.
