Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer at Advocate Aurora Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care by performing ultrasound procedures and interpreting images to aid in diagnosis. Key Responsibilities

• Proficiently operate ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies
• Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
• Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy
• Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures
• Adjust factors to attain the appropriate images and ensure patient safety and comfort
• Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to physicians
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, or cost containment projects/initiatives and maintain laboratory accreditation

Requirements

• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent
• Ability to work effectively with others towards common department goals and communicate with patients and caregivers using excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of aseptic techniques and ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage simultaneous assignments
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday and push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
