Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Technician to join our team at Chris Auffenberg Chrysler of Herrin. As a Chrysler Certified Technician, you will be responsible for performing diagnoses and repairs in all areas, with a focus on specialized areas of repair.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, adhering to dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair, communicating with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or requested by the customer.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that customers' cars are kept clean, notifying the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keep the shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Report any safety issues immediately to management.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Chrysler Level 3 Certified & Diesel Technician
  • Valid Driver's License
