Job Title: Quality Control Engineer

Rantec Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Quality Control Engineer to provide quality assurance support to our product realization processes. The successful candidate will perform quality engineering functional roles, communicate and ensure compliance to customer requirements from design to delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform audits of specific areas, processes, and procedures, including internal QMS audits.
  • Evaluate design outputs and approve configuration changes (ECNs), including contract review of quality requirements.
  • Provide technical support to design and production activities to achieve compliance to customer requirements.
  • Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) when required.
  • Participate in and respond to customer quality assessments and audits.
  • Complete assigned training and train Quality personnel in subject areas, such as ESD and FOD control, QMS procedures.
  • Assist in and lead continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform related duties of the QA department as assigned.
  • Generate and issue Quality Alerts as necessary.
  • Interface with government and customer source inspectors and representatives.
  • Responsible for leading all in-process MRB meetings.
  • Support the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) and its compliance to AS9100D.
  • Write and update quality planning for customer-required quality planning, such as Supplier Data Requirements Listing (SDRL).
  • As needed, coordinate outside lab failure analysis toward effective results.
  • Write failure analysis reports using collaborative input for cause statements from engineering and test.
  • Support project teams toward conclusion when product failures and defect trends are identified.
  • Preventive and corrective action activities, including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Create and maintain Inspection plans.
Requirements
  • BS degree in a technical field desirable.
  • Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of First Article Inspection in accordance with AS9102 is desirable.
  • Strong working knowledge of SPC tools.
  • QA Engineer experience, preferably in an Aerospace design and manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years' experience in working in an organization certified to an AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical inspection requirements, including current industry workmanship standards (J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610).
  • Sound reasoning skills in risk assessment. Able to utilize root cause analysis techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Multi-tasking ability.
  • Dependable, assertive, self-starter, that works with all functions of the organization and team on time.
  • Excellent knowledge and ability with Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on solid reasoning regarding acceptance/rejection of materials.
