Nursing Unit Manager

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Manager to lead our patient care unit or service. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and communication, monitoring the work environment, assuring quality, managing the fiscal budget, managing human resources, and ensuring the delivery of competent clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitate staff to assume leadership roles via role modeling.
- Demonstrate positive leadership skills and communication which results in achievement of outcomes.
- Articulate departmental goals and objectives which allows staff to actively participate in clinical decision-making.
- Facilitate the achievement of a high quality work environment.
- Ensure that appropriate equipment and supplies are available.
- Participate in unit programs, documents results, reports by deadlines, and formulates corrective action plans for improvement.
- Meet established research-based standards of care and Leads quality improvement projects.
- Develop a multidisciplinary program to monitor quality care indicators.
- Maintain a consistent score of good on selected department items on customer service survey.
- Develop and review Departmental Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in chart review audits.
- Maintain fiscal budget, overtime, orientation costs, SSP costs and medical supply costs.
- Adjust staffing patterns according to unit activity and patient acuity.
- Analyze budget variances.
- Develop and manage the unit budget.
- Identify major hospital cost savings opportunities.
- Identify new revenue-producing opportunities.
- Support Shared leadership.
- Facilitate professional growth and development of staff.
- Demonstrate accountability for human and material resource management.
- Comply with personnel policies and procedures.
- Oversee orientation of all new employees.
- Ensure that payroll is accurate and timely.
- Ensure effective delivery of competent, compassionate nursing care.
- Develop clinical experts in the patient care areas.
- Starting January 2016, any new hires should have: Bachelor's Degree with 3 years leadership experience OR Master's Degree and no experience OR Associates Degree Nursing and 5 years leadership experience.
- Required Licensure & Certification: Registered Nurse (RN), BLS - American Heart Association, NRP.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training: Ability to relate to people and handle complex situations.
