Job SummaryLeidos is seeking a highly skilled COMSEC Custodian to join our dynamic team of network engineers. As a COMSEC Custodian, you will be responsible for safeguarding and controlling COMSEC material in accordance with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure all COMSEC material issued to and held by the COMSEC Custodian is safeguarded and controlled in accordance with current regulations.
- Maintain the COMSEC account files and prepare and submit accounting reports to the Central Office of Record (COR) as required.
- Ensure new or additional COMSEC material is properly requisitioned in accordance with department directives.
- Conduct or supervise inventories, and correct any deficiencies as required by the COR.
- Ensure all mandatory software upgrades are made to COMSEC equipment as required and directed by COR.
- Configure and troubleshoot COMSEC equipment and perform rekeys.
- Ensure COMSEC material is issued only to appropriately cleared or authorized individuals who's duties require it and advise them of their responsibility to properly safeguard and control COMSEC material.
- Maintain records of all COMSEC material issued to users on hand receipts.
- Initiate organizational procedures ensuring individuals do not leave the organization without first returning or destroying COMSEC material issued to them on a hand receipt.
- Ensure any COMSEC material is properly packaged for transportation and all received packages are examined for evidence of tampering. Make transportation arrangements and ensure only authorized means are used for transporting COMSEC material in accordance with Section XIV, Transportation of COMSEC Material.
- Ensure COMSEC material received or transferred by the account agrees with material listed on the accompany transfer report.
- Ensure any COMSEC incidents are reported in accordance with the requirements of the COR.
- Ensure the COMSEC account holds only mission essential COMSEC material. COMSEC equipment must reconcile at quantity levels to an approved authorization document, where applicable to prevent retention of excess material.
- Train users in proper procedures for safeguarding and controlling COMSEC material.
- Work with COMSEC users to ensure there is a continuing requirement for specific key or if no requirement recommend to the Controlling Authority or Command Authority that the account be dropped from distribution of that specific key.
- Provide COMSEC local element support to assigned locations, which includes managing COMSEC hardware/software assets and key inventories, loading keys into encryption devices, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading, removing/replacing faulty equipment, and following prescribed procedures and processes related to COMSEC.
- Document work activities/details per established tools and processes; maintain accurate site documentation.
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph.
- Ability to satisfy a government-administered high-risk role medical screening.
- Bachelor's degree and 12+ years' experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree.
- Ability to implement processes and maintain accuracy of administrative documentation.
- Knowledge of/experience with Cisco, Juniper and Linux.
- Understanding of network transport devices attached to encryption devices to include routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of information security practices and devices.
- Experience with current crypto devices/methods and COMSEC principles and practices.
- Experience in network and network security design and installation.
- Willing to travel to local WMA site locations, as necessary.
- Experience effectively communicating at senior levels within a customer organization.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations and project priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
