OVERVIEW

The Outbound Logistics Analyst plays a crucial role in delivering data-driven insights and analytics that align with evolving business dynamics and prospects. This position is focused on optimizing transportation expenditures, enhancing operational efficiency, and guaranteeing timely product delivery to clients.

The analyst will scrutinize transportation metrics, uncover trends, and propose actionable improvements to processes.

This role is integral in ensuring that JOANN adheres to its financial objectives regarding outbound transportation expenditures, aiding the organization in making informed, data-centric decisions.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Analytical Contributions:
Gather and evaluate volumetric data, discerning patterns and predicting shifts while maintaining data accuracy and reliability. Enhance visibility of shipments and costs through comprehensive report generation, effectively conveying analytical findings and recommendations. Identify various project reporting needs, extract relevant data from diverse sources, and organize it into actionable presentations. Ensure timely and precise completion of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.


Spot opportunities for recommending process enhancements and carrier selections that yield transportation savings, introduce new efficiencies, boost on-time delivery rates, and elevate the overall service experience for both internal and external stakeholders.

Deliver insightful analyses on financial performance and avenues for cost reduction without compromising service quality. Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support strategic optimization initiatives. Prepare financial studies and analytics to aid in carrier negotiations and rate assessments.

Examine outbound expense trends across all sectors and contribute to the formulation of transportation strategies that maximize cost efficiency and lane utilization.

Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and create/update scorecards to foster ongoing improvements in cost and service metrics.
Engage collaboratively with internal teams, JOANN's freight audit and payment partners, and carriers to generate necessary reporting.

Proactively inform and advise on trends, shifts in the transportation sector, or other logistics-related elements that may influence the movement of goods.

Participate in divisional and quarterly reviews with carriers and other supply chain partners.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Operations, or a related discipline.
Minimum Experience: 3-5 years of experience in analytics and transportation (including small parcel, freight, international, and domestic logistics).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Intermediate proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (preferably Blue Jay).

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel (including graphing, pivot tables, etc.); familiarity with Power BI and data analytics is also beneficial.

Ability to foster collaboration and work independently.
Exhibit strong teamwork, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills.
Possess effective time management abilities and the capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt to change.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
