Job Summary

A Law Enforcement Supervisor serves as the managerial level within the law enforcement division at Baltimore City Community College. This role involves overseeing police officers and security personnel, ensuring the safety and security of the college community.


The position is integral to the mission of the College, fostering a secure environment for students, staff, and the surrounding community.


Responsibilities/Duties

- Supervise and direct the activities of assigned personnel;

- Provide training and guidance to police officers regarding their duties, including traffic management and communication systems;

- Ensure the meticulous preparation and completion of various reports and documentation to uphold public safety standards, which may encompass financial, statistical, or specialized reports;

- Develop and implement procedures governing traffic and parking regulations on campus;

- Assist in managing the department's evidence inventory alongside the Director and Deputy Director of Public Safety;

- Engage in comprehensive law enforcement duties, enforcing regulations to protect personnel and property;

- Ensure adequate staffing at all posts, conducting regular patrols throughout the shift;

- Coordinate enforcement efforts related to criminal laws and agency regulations;

- Conduct investigations under the guidance of the Director and Deputy Director of Public Safety;

- Provide testimony in court regarding arrests made during shifts;

- Lead and participate in emergency response efforts;

- Authorize the use of the Criminal Information Justice System by subordinate staff;

- Oversee traffic and crowd management;

- Collaborate with local and state law enforcement agencies;

- Facilitate community-oriented public safety initiatives;

- Disseminate safety information to the College community;

- Foster relationships with the college community and the public;

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED

- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.

- At least 7 years of experience in law enforcement.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree

- Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience.

- At least 12 years of experience in law enforcement.
