Position Overview:
This role encompasses semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the installation, construction, upkeep, and repair of water and sewer systems, conducted under general oversight, with responsibilities for leading work crews.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Execute the installation and removal of private water and sewer connections, water mains, sewer mains, meter pits, hydrants, valves, and water meters.
2. Conduct repairs, cleaning, and maintenance of water mains, sewer mains, valves, hydrants, catch basins, private home connections, manholes, sidewalks, stop boxes, and associated equipment.
3. Install, repair, and remove water meters; manage water service operations, inspect and address faulty meters, and handle consumer complaints.
4. Utilize electronic devices to record water meter readings, inspect meters, and report any leaks or defects.
5. Construct catch basins, manholes, curbs, and sidewalks, including setting forms and mixing, pouring, and finishing cement.
6. Perform routine maintenance checks on hydrants and water main valves, ensuring cleanliness and functionality; document findings.
7. May serve as a lead worker on a crew while executing various tasks.
8. Safely operate a range of vehicles, equipment, and power tools for maintenance activities, including heavy machinery.
9. Ensure proper backfilling of water and sewer excavations post-maintenance work.
10. Read and interpret water and sewer maps and utility prints.
11. Identify and stake all water and sewer mains and appurtenances using field measurements or electronic devices.
12. Perform various tasks in the yard and assist in stockroom duties as required.

Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- At least one year of experience in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer systems, including working with connections, mains, meter pits, hydrants, and valves.
- Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver License (CDL), Group (A) with air brakes and N endorsement is mandatory.
- Possession of Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy S-4 Certification is required, with the ability to obtain S-3 Certification within two testing cycles.
- Knowledge of construction, repair, and maintenance methods, tools, and materials is essential.
- Familiarity with safe work practices in hazardous conditions, including confined space entry.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Proficient in using computers and mobile devices for data collection and communication.
- Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
- Ability to safely operate common hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.

Physical Requirements:
This position involves regular exertion of up to 100 pounds of force and requires standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and various physical activities. Regular exposure to outdoor conditions and mechanical parts is expected.
