The Backstage Automation Trainer is a key member of our team at Carnival Cruise Line, responsible for conducting comprehensive training programs in backstage and automation disciplines. This role requires a strong background in theatre and automation, with the ability to design and deliver engaging training sessions to our team members.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver training programs in backstage and automation disciplines, including curriculum design, instructional materials, and evaluation methods.
- Conduct training sessions for our team members, focusing on safety, project planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of automation systems, theatrical sets, props, and stage flooring.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements to our curriculum.
- Maintain administrative training records for each trainee, tracking their progress and performance.
- Perform inventory and maintenance tasks related to sets, props, and facility needs.
- Coordinate with our production team to ensure seamless integration of new shows and vessels.
- Work closely with operations and production divisions to incorporate improvements and best practices into our production processes.
- Deliver group-style HR training sessions to shipboard team members.
- Stay up-to-date with technical support requirements and provide assistance via our online issue ticketing system and telephone support.
- Participate in the recruitment of entertainment technicians, working closely with our casting and booking department.
- Bachelor's degree in stage management, theatre, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in backstage and automation disciplines, with a strong background in training and instruction.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Experience in instructing in the field of stage management and production on cruise ships is preferred.
- Strong teaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to assess training needs and objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum within training plans.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse setting.
