Pel-State Services is seeking a dedicated Fuel Transport Operator to enhance our operations. This role involves driving a bobtail and/or tractor-tanker, often over long distances, along established routes to deliver fuel. The position requires manual handling and is physically demanding, including loading and unloading fuel at client locations. The operator must maintain a professional demeanor while operating the company vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize knowledge of commercial driving regulations and demonstrate proficiency in vehicle maneuvering, including basic driving functions.
- Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate driver logs in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Safely load fuel from designated locations and unload into client equipment.
- Engage with customers during delivery to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete all scheduled deliveries by the end of the shift.
- Adhere to company operating procedures and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 23 years old.
- Possess a Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Ability to read and understand computer printouts and write clearly.
- Complete a DOT-compliant application for employment.
- Successfully pass a DOT-required road test, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Familiarity with highways and locations in Texas, New Mexico, and surrounding areas.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with others.
- Comply with all traffic regulations and maintain a safe driving record.
- Exhibit regular, reliable attendance and the ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role.
Working Conditions:
This position involves moderate physical activity, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The role may expose the driver to various weather conditions and physical risks, necessitating adherence to safety protocols. Long periods of driving are required, with the ability to see in diverse lighting conditions.
Benefits:
Eligible employees can enroll in health insurance plans, including medical, dental, and vision coverage after a specified period. Paid time off, including holidays, is available after a designated timeframe. Employees may also enroll in a 401K plan after a specified duration. The average work schedule consists of approximately 50 hours per week, subject to change based on operational needs. Compensation for route drivers starts at $21 per hour, with potential for negotiation based on experience and shift.
