Physician Specialist

Under the direction of the Chief of Medical Services, the Physician II provides high-quality medical care to patients at Alameda Health System hospitals and clinics. This role involves providing consultative services in their specialty, assisting in the administrative and professional direction of a medical specialty service, and performing related duties as required.
Key Responsibilities- Provides compassionate, culturally competent, and patient-centered care to patients.
- Participates in the supervision of Mid-level Practitioners/Certified Nurse Midwives in assigned clinical areas.
- Practices evidence-based medicine and stays up-to-date with current standards of care.
- Provides cost-effective care, manages time and patient flow well, and follows up on patient-related work.
- Stays current with patient care responsibilities, including lab results, medication refills, and radiology reports.
- Takes initiative to work well with the clinical team to improve quality of care and service delivery.
- Teaches patients, families, and staff, and provides counseling services related to promoting good health practices.
- Completion of an approved residency in an appropriate specialty.
- Possession of a current valid license to practice medicine in the state of California, and Board Certification or be Board Eligible in the area of specialty.
- Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association or PALS or ACLS, and a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Number.
