Postdoctoral Researcher in Polymers Synthesis and Degradation

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Chemistry Department at Kenyon College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, or polymer chemistry, and will be responsible for conducting research, compiling and analyzing data, and disseminating results in presentations and scientific publications.
Responsibilities
The primary duties of the postdoc will include:
- Conducting research in the laboratory of Yutan Getzler, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of linear and cyclic polyesters via ring-opening polymerization of commercially available and novel lactones using coordination compounds.
- Compiling, analyzing, and synthesizing data, and disseminating results in presentations and scientific publications.
- Developing the skills necessary to succeed in a tenure-track position at a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI) through collaboration on undergraduate teaching and student mentoring with Dr. Getzler.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Ph.D. in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience with air-free techniques and a strong background in synthesis and characterization.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a commitment to undergraduate education.
