Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Aquatics Specialist to oversee the aquatic facility and programs. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise aquatic facility and programs to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants
  • Develop and implement aquatic programs and services that meet the needs of the community
  • Recruit, train, and supervise lifeguards and swim instructors
  • Conduct water safety inspections and ensure compliance with YMCA and state regulations
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of programs and services
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or specialized training in aquatics or a related field preferred
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and Lifeguard Instructor Certification required
  • YMCA Swim Instructor Certification and First Aid Certification required
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
