Software Development Engineer, Fulfillment Technologies

As a Software Development Engineer on Amazon's Fulfillment Technologies team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing innovative software solutions that power Amazon's global fulfillment network. Our team is responsible for building and operating technologies that ensure the safety and compliance of our customers, associates, carriers, and selling partners throughout their experience on Amazon.

Key Responsibilities
Participate in the design, implementation, and deployment of successful internet-scale systems and services in support of our fulfillment operations and the businesses they support.
Raise the bar on clean code, extensible architecture, and performance.
Participate in the definition of secure, scalable, and low-latency services and efficient physical processes.
Work with cross-functional teams delivering on demanding projects.
Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
Understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.
Share knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.

About the Team
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon's global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
A high degree of pragmatism in building the simplest thing that does the job; we want to use technology to solve real-world problems expediently, not indulge in over-designed, unnecessarily intricate software architecture.
