The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Journeyman to join our team. As a key member of our commercial construction team, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining electrical wiring, control, and lighting systems, inspecting electrical components, and identifying electrical problems using various testing devices.

You will work closely with our team to ensure that all electrical work is completed to the highest standards, following state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively interact with customers and colleagues, providing exceptional service and support.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to identify electrical systems and components
  • Install and maintain electrical wiring, control, and lighting systems
  • Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to identify potential issues
  • Use various testing devices to identify electrical problems and diagnose issues
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code
  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
  • Follow policies, procedures, safety rules, and federal and state laws
  • Complete complex electrical tie-ins and outages
  • Inspect and replace faulty wires, electrical systems, or components to determine condition and identify repairs needed
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in a heavy commercial setting
  • Journeyman's Electrical License - Required
  • Working knowledge of conduit bends and wire pulls
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, machines, and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to read and comprehend complicated blueprints, drawings, schematics, specifications, codes, electrical formulas, and handbooks
  • Must be familiar with the National Electric Codes, electrical theory, and be comfortable working with high voltage three-phase circuits, generators, transformers, switchgear
  • Outstanding ability to use various testing devices related to the electrical and mechanical trades
  • Exceptional ability to work on projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as required
  • Ability to lead and supervise a group of up to 25 at a project site and remain task-oriented
  • Experience with, and comprehensive knowledge of a facility lock-out/tag-out program (Compliance with OSHA 29 CFR control of hazardous energy)
  • Prefer a minimum of four (4) hours formal training on the NFPA-70E code, understand arc-flash dynamics, hazard analysis, and PPE requirements for potential hazards
  • OSHA 10 and 30 certifications (preferred)
  • Must have a current valid driver's license
  • Must pass a background check of driving record
  • Outstanding effective interpersonal skills and the ability to function as a quality team member in a demanding service environment
  • Ability to communicate with customers in a professional, effective manner
  • Must have tools needed to complete tasks in your trade
