Position Summary: The Senior Radiologic Technologist is responsible for executing a range of imaging procedures, including computed tomography (CT), while ensuring adherence to patient safety protocols. This role serves as the primary contact for patients, facilitating their needs effectively.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Completion of a radiology education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
- Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (RT (R)) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is essential.
- Registry eligibility or certification in Computed Tomography (RT (C)) or relevant experience is preferred.
- A valid Texas Medical Board Radiologic Technologist License is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate patient examinations based on procedure availability and insurance authorization.
- Maintain effective communication with physician offices and departmental staff.
- Verify patient identity and the specific examination prior to initiating procedures.
- Oversee the cleanliness and inventory of supplies in assigned areas.
- Deliver patient care that is appropriate for various age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Utilize independent judgment to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings during exams.
- Address the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the examination process.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the department supervisor promptly.
- Adhere to radiation safety principles, ensuring minimal exposure.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients and assist them in positioning for examinations.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and proper documentation.
- Operate and maintain digital radiographic and computed tomography equipment.
- Obtain informed consent for intravenous contrast injections.
- Maintain quality control logs for fluoroscopic equipment.
- Follow aseptic techniques and infection control protocols as required.
- Perform clerical duties as necessary.
