Position Overview:
This role is integral to the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). Candidates must meet the open-competitive minimum qualifications for this position.

Qualifications:
Open Competitive:
1. A valid New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration, along with a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in specified engineering fields.
2. Alternatively, a valid New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration, accompanied by one year of full-time relevant engineering experience.

Qualifying Degrees:
Degrees in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, and other related fields are acceptable.

Qualifying Experience:
One year of full-time engineering experience in transportation projects, including highways, railroads, bridges, and traffic management systems.

Promotional Qualifications:
Must possess a New York State Professional Engineer's License and have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a relevant position.

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will assist the Regional Director of Operations by:
1. Training, supervising, and coordinating technicians and administrative staff.
2. Participating in and conducting meetings.
3. Planning and executing projects and assignments.
4. Monitoring funding, materials, and resource allocation.
5. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally, the role may involve:
- Assisting with technical reviews of plans and projects.
- Coordinating with Resident Engineers to fulfill program requirements.
- Designing operations for paving and drainage projects.

Additional Information:
This position is part of the NY HELPS program, allowing for non-competitive appointments. Employees hired under this program may transition to competitive status in the future, retaining the rights and privileges of competitive class employees.

All educational credentials must be from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Candidates must provide verification of equivalency for degrees obtained outside the U.S.
