Job Summary

The University of Louisville is seeking a skilled Painter II to join our facilities team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing skilled work in painting, caulking, and patch finishing exterior and interior surfaces of buildings and other structures, surfaces, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and clean surfaces by use of sandpaper, burners, scrapers, sanding machines, dusters, and paint removers.
  • Mix paints and allied products.
  • Caulk fenestration and other openings when required.
  • Apply undercoats and finished coats of paint to the exterior and interior of buildings, furniture, and other structures by means of brush, roller, or spray equipment.
  • Apply waterproof material to exterior of buildings.
  • Erect and remove portable mechanical scaffolding.
  • Clean brushes, containers, spray guns, and other related equipment.
  • Supervise unskilled and semi-skilled helpers.
  • Paint automobiles and other mechanical equipment.
  • Rig two-point stage and work on the stage as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A commercial driver's license may be required to be obtained within the first six months of employment. A pre-employment physical exam is required, and a valid driver's license is required and must be insurable by the University's insurance carrier.
