Job Summary

AmeriNat is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our team. As a Collections Specialist, you will be responsible for making outbound collection calls and taking inbound calls to collect payments on past due accounts, as well as negotiating workout plans to resolve delinquency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete collection call queues within the assigned timeframe.
  • Negotiate workout plans with borrowers.
  • Handle high volumes of incoming and outgoing collection calls.
  • Process check-by-phone requests and exception payments.
  • Research payment histories and offer solutions to borrowers.
  • Timely respond to borrower inquiries, both verbal and written, in accordance with RESPA guidelines.
  • Review financials and unapplied balances weekly.
  • Knowledge of programs available to assist borrowers and advising borrowers of programs at the company level, client, state, and federal assistance.
  • Clear documentation of call-in notes, including pertinent information.
  • Compliance with Quality Assurance, State and Federal regulations, company policies, and procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A minimum of one year collection experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from borrowers, clients, and managers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Basic operation of all general office equipment.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent written and oral skills to effectively communicate professionally with clients, borrowers, and staff of various levels.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Thorough understanding of FDCPA and CFPB.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus but not required.
  • Strong comfort level with technology, including ability to adapt to new systems quickly and easily.
Physical Requirements
  • Talking - Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing - Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Repetitive Motion - Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Vision - Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.
  • Physical Strength - Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
