Equipment Operator

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our water treatment facility, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining 2 Phase Centrifuge equipment to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Tend to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment, including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed, and odor control and vacuum filters.
- Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow.
- Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures, and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals, and programmable logic control units in assigned areas.
- Record operating conditions, observations, and data in area shift logs.
- Ensure conformance to process specifications, diagnose basic operational problems, and take corrective action per procedure.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance and maintenance-related items as assigned.
- Perform manual labor, including filling and emptying machine bins and cleaning equipment, facilities, and grounds as required.
- Perform minor maintenance, including routine preventive maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Practice good housekeeping in assigned areas and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies.
- Perform field tests to pace chemical dosages for process units or alter unit processes.
- Sample sludge according to schedule.
- Prepare chemical solutions and service polymer pumps.
- Monitor process chemical supplies and recommend reorders.
- Perform routine lab tests.
- Perform routine instrument calibration for portable meters, including dissolved oxygen, pH, H2S, percent oxygen, and lower explosive limit.
- High School diploma or GED
- Some experience in a related position and environment preferred
- Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control
- Must have experience working with a centrifuge
- Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, and quality instructions)
- Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
- Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining large industrial centrifuge/filter press equipment
- Mechanically inclined
