Unit Overview

The 2D Observation unit comprises 21 beds and provides care for diverse patient populations. Our team excels in delivering timely and effective care, functioning as an extension of the emergency department for patients requiring hospitalization for less than 48 hours. Joining this dynamic team enhances your critical thinking abilities while ensuring exceptional patient care. Common conditions treated in the Observation unit include cellulitis, congestive heart failure (CHF), asthma, kidney stones, and transient ischemic attacks (TIA).

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care in a responsible and accountable manner, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan. Competency is demonstrated through the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse upholds professional performance standards, encompassing ethical practice, culturally competent care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, professional evaluation, resource management, and environmental health, all aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within five years.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.

Weekly Scheduled Hours: 36

Hours of Work: 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Weekend Frequency: Every other weekend
