Aerial Lineman Job Description

At Kanaan Communications, LLC, we're committed to providing a safe and supportive work environment for our team members. As an Aerial Lineman, you'll play a critical role in installing and repairing aerial telecommunications cable, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and repair aerial telecommunications cable
  • Place and remove utility poles
  • Safely use hand tools and equipment, such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, saws, lashers, climbing hooks, and more
  • Safely operate mechanized equipment, such as bucket trucks, digger derrick, excavators, and more
  • Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
  • Flag traffic when required
  • Understand separation and clearance regulations
  • Safely work aloft using climbing hooks and ladders
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a DOT health card
  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry, but willing to train the right candidate
  • A valid, unrestricted driver's license with a good driving record
  • Willing to obtain Unrestricted Class A CDL within 6 months of employment
  • Knowledge of established aerial cable installation procedures and techniques
  • Ability to climb telephone poles and work in a bucket truck and work aloft and climb poles up to 40 feet
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction, such as pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction
  • Able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
  • Ability to interact and communicate with co-workers & customers in a clear & professional manner
  • Ability to set up & maintain safe work areas
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to travel when travel is required
