This role necessitates the expertise and proficiency to provide guidance, leadership, and accountability for Medical Assistants. Under general oversight, the position involves executing a diverse range of direct and technical nursing care tasks for patients across various stages of health, including acute, sub-acute, convalescent, and chronic conditions, in alignment with established nursing care protocols and physician directives. The individual will also serve as a Referral Coordinator, managing all patient referral processes and authorization requests. A collaborative spirit and a commitment to fostering trust and respect among colleagues, including clinical and non-clinical staff, physicians, and management, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

This includes preparing authorization requests by ensuring the completion of necessary forms, verifying eligibility, and confirming benefits. You will accurately input referral data into the electronic system, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the relevant codes (type, status, procedure, etc.). Care coordination activities will also involve notifying patients and providers of authorization outcomes and maintaining precise tracking of services, including follow-ups on referral statuses.
  • Administer prescribed medications (orally, intradermally, subcutaneously, or via intramuscular injection) while documenting the time and dosage in the patient's medical record. Monitor patients for any adverse reactions to medications or treatments and report findings to the supervising medical personnel.
  • Perform wound care, apply compresses, and utilize equipment such as catheters and oxygen supplies as needed.
  • Collect and process samples, including urine and sputum, for laboratory testing, and conduct routine tests on these samples.
