Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Art Instructor to join our team at Muskegon Community College. As an Adjunct Art Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching art courses and facilitating student learning in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned art courses, including day, night, and online classes, at the main campus and extension centers.
  • Establish and promote an effective learning environment that maximizes student learning and engagement.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to student learning and progress.
  • Grade assignments in a meaningful way and return graded work to students in a timely manner.
  • Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled office hours or by appointment.
  • Encourage student opinion survey completion and review summary information to inform teaching practices.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and expertise, including compliance training and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair or college administration.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in art or 18 credits in the specific discipline.
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of how an art studio functions and operates on a daily basis.
  • Prefer teaching experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.
  • Experience with instructional technology preferred.
Working Conditions

The Adjunct Art Instructor will work in a normal office environment with occasional exposure to art studios and classrooms. Ability to travel to all campus locations is required.
