About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Aid Operations Leader to join our team. Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Aid, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to the financial aid team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing student financial aid programs.
- Oversee the administration of various financial aid programs, including federal grants, loans, scholarships, and institutional aid.
- Manage the awarding process for incoming freshmen and transfer students, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of funds.
- Conduct audits of state awards and provide oversight for the South Carolina Tuition Grants Program (SCTG) and other CHE programs.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance student access and enrollment in financial aid programs.
- Develop and deliver presentations on student financial aid information to staff, high schools, and the community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a college/university financial aid setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations governing student financial aid programs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively counsel and advise students.
- Proficiency in higher education financial aid software systems, such as PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar, MS Office, COD, and NSDLS.
