Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medicaid Eligibility Specialist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the necessary financial assistance to access quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough interviews with patients to determine eligibility for Medicaid programs.
  • Analyze patient data, including income, assets, and clinical history, to determine potential eligibility for financial assistance.
  • Communicate complex financial concepts and procedures to patients, providing guidance on the application process.
  • Collaborate with other departments and healthcare facilities to ensure seamless Medicaid screening and application processes.
  • Represent patients in appeals and hearings, advocating for their eligibility for Medicaid benefits.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience with Medicaid administration in a social services or healthcare organization is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office and Epic, with the ability to learn new software rapidly.

Work Environment:

This is a per diem position with a variable work schedule. The successful candidate will be based at Wayne UNC Health Care, with occasional travel to patient homes as needed.
