Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of English as a Second Language to join our team at Mt. San Antonio College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching credit ESL reading, writing, speaking, and/or elective courses from basic to advanced levels in accordance with assigned course outlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver curriculum around thematic units curated from multimedia sources
  • Participate in curriculum development, student learning outcome development, and assessments
  • Collaborate with other faculty, staff, and administrators to plan, develop, and execute related program goals
  • Utilize culturally responsive pedagogy to instruct and assist in growth and success of students with a sensitivity to instructional needs
  • Maintain a scheduled office hour
  • Utilize learning management systems and instructional technologies for delivery of course content
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis, English with a TESL emphasis, or education with a TESL emphasis. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with TESL certificate and a Master's in linguistics, applied linguistics, English composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, speech, or any foreign language will also be considered. The candidate must also demonstrate a commitment to the community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include experience in teaching ESL courses, curriculum development, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
