Job Summary:


The Clinical Pharmacist at RWJ Hamilton is responsible for ensuring the precise and efficient distribution of medications to a variety of patient demographics, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.


Qualifications:

Required:
Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD

Preferred:
Experience in a hospital pharmacy setting

Licenses and Certifications:
Required:
Active NJ Pharmacist License

Scheduling Requirements:
Availability for shift work, including a rotating schedule of day and evening shifts, with occasional overnight shifts as necessary for coverage

Participation in weekend and holiday rotations

Part-Time availability

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately filling and verifying Pyxis refills
  • Dispensing floor stock items in accordance with approved lists and par level quantities
  • Preparing and verifying aseptic IV admixtures, TPN, and compounded products while adhering to good manufacturing pharmacy practices
  • Assessing medication therapy for appropriateness and implementing corrective actions when necessary
  • Acting as a drug information resource for healthcare professionals
  • Reviewing medication orders for correct dosing and identifying potential interactions or allergies
  • Clarifying medication orders with physicians or nurses as required
  • Documenting interventions for therapy modifications and ensuring pharmacy staff are informed
  • Promoting rational medication therapy based on current literature, hospital guidelines, and clinical observations
