Position Overview

As a Prep Cook, you play a vital role in our team, contributing to the delivery of genuine hospitality. We seek individuals who are energetic, eager to advance in the culinary field, and committed to their teammates. Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing and maintaining the required levels of food items. The ideal candidate possesses culinary skills and is familiar with kitchen equipment. Prep Cooks create all proteins, sauces, dressings, and stocks from scratch, serving as the backbone of the kitchen. They ensure the authenticity of recipes and deliver the best possible culinary experience to our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to recipes and procedures to prepare assigned sauces and food items according to prep lists and par levels.
  • Maintain prescribed portion controls and par levels.
  • Understand and implement food allergy protocols and special orders.
  • Prepare and produce ready-to-use foods, garnishes, and condiments for service.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations.
  • Utilize knives safely and effectively, including the use of cut gloves.
  • Maintain cleanliness of shelves, organize workspaces, and dispose of waste.
  • Keep the work area clean throughout the shift.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Enhance the guest experience by exceeding expectations.
  • Receive, stock, and rotate food items according to company standards.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with Back of House and Front of House team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist fellow cooks during peak service times.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • No formal education required.
  • Previous experience in food preparation preferred.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including nights and weekends.
  • Strong judgment skills and a positive attitude.
  • Must possess all necessary food and alcohol certifications as required by location.

Working Conditions

  • 75% of the time spent working at tables/stoves and reaching for items.
  • 60% of the time performing tasks at a high pace under pressure while maintaining quality standards.
  • 50% of the time lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Good hearing is necessary for effective communication.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers for handling tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
