Job Description

• This Retail Checkout Clerk position requires a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences, ensuring accurate transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a cash register and electronic scanner to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Process financial transactions, including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons.
• Weigh and carefully bag customer purchases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Understand the efficient operation of check-stand equipment, including registers, scanners, scales, and belts.
• Responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stands (newspapers, periodicals, candy, etc.).
• Maintain knowledge of current store programs and product locations.
• Communicate Company programs, in-store specials, and coupons to customers, modeling high standards of service to achieve a customer-oriented store.
• Comply with Company policies regarding security, cash handling/cash drawer accounting procedures, product handling (damaged/spoiled products), the sale of alcohol and tobacco products, etc.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked department, adhering to Company safety and sanitation procedures and standards.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• One year of prior retail or related experience is preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact politely and effectively with customers are essential.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills are necessary, along with attention to detail.
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required.
