Job Summary

This position works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to provide patient care and support services in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly unit, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Under the direction of the nurse, prioritize and organize care of assigned patients, performing basic nurse's aide skills as outlined in orientation, competencies, policy, and procedures.
  • Document patient treatments and pertinent observations, providing report to the team on tasks completed.
  • Provide age-specific care to patients, adhering to department standards and policies/procedures.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform according to procedure in all hospital emergency situations, ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients.
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy at all times.
  • Support the mission, goals, policies, and standards of nursing, recognizing and implementing hospital and unit policies and work rules.
  • Participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health to maintain competency in Microsoft Windows.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Certifications and Licensures
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Must hold an internal MidMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or a current State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the state of Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan or successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program.
Physical and Mental Requirements

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief, and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitutes if required for the position. Must be able to move freely about the facility with or without an assisted device and perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
