Job Overview

**Position Summary:**

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research group in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Ali Ezzati, M.D. and will have the opportunity to collaborate with our multidisciplinary team of expert faculty in Neurology, Epidemiology, data-science, and biostatistics.

**Research Focus:**

Our research group is focused on Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, with a primary focus on using advanced biostatistical modeling, artificial intelligence, and machine learning methods. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with large biomedical data across different fields of neurology, including but not limited to Alzheimer's disease, aging and dementia, neuroepidemiology, cerebrovascular health, and headache medicine.

**Responsibilities:**

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for working with large data from several cohorts and clinical trials, running analytical models on longitudinal data, developing novel predictive models and analytical tools, summarizing findings and publishing results in research journals, and assuming general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory. The candidate will also provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers, help with development and execution of clinical research studies, and contribute to grant writing.

**Requirements:**

The ideal candidate will have a recent or anticipated PhD or equivalent degree in Neuroscience, Computational Biology, Computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields obtained within the last 3 years. The candidate should have excellent programming skills specifically in R and/or Python, and evidence for excellent written and oral communication skills including prior peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Background in and knowledge of biostatistics and clinical research is preferred, as well as prior knowledge in cognitive neurology and neurodegenerative disease, epidemiology, pain, and headache medicine.
