Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Allegheny General Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the provision of pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process prescription medication orders, including computer order entry, medication preparation, and assembly of required items prior to pharmacist final check.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory and supplies according to established policies and procedures, including inspection of assigned areas and use of pharmacy computer systems.
  • Participate in supply chain purchasing initiatives, procure medications and supplies, and create purchase orders under pharmacist oversight.
  • Record and process recalls, outdates, returns, and credits.
  • Assist in training of new employees, residents, and students.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the department through computer functions, process cart fill lists, pick lists, refill medications, generation of labels, and answering phones appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and participate in performance improvement and regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Implement activities related to the patient experience and improvement, including service recovery.
  • Recommend process improvements or courses of action for problem resolution to respective team leader or manager.
Requirements
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required within 24 months of hire.
  • Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year equivalent experience in lieu of formal training program required.
  • ExCPT Pharmacy Technician - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification preferred.
