Position: Mobile Structured Cabling Specialist
Vi-Tel Inc is on the lookout for skilled Structured Cabling Specialists to support various clients.
Key Qualifications:
Applicants must have hands-on experience with different types of cabling, including Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, and coaxial cables. Familiarity with single mode and multimode fiber optics is advantageous.
Experience should encompass tasks such as cable pulling, securing cables within raceways and trays, organizing cabling into racks, and performing terminations at both field and rack ends. Knowledge of installing and configuring IDF/MDF racks and cabinets, as well as adding patch panels, is also beneficial.
Vi-Tel and its partners are in search of individuals who can operate independently while demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Pulling and routing various cabling from the field to the rack
- Terminating data jacks in the field
- Terminating patch panels at the rack end
- Terminating telephone blocks
- Potentially installing cable supports such as ladder racks and hooks
- Testing terminations
- Labeling
- Setting up cabinets and/or racks
- Interpreting blueprints
- Collaborating with team members and lead technicians
Work Scope:
Performing cabling tasks including pulling, routing, terminating, testing, and labeling cabling in a commercial setting.
Working from scissor lifts and/or boom lifts as necessary.
Possessing various basic hand tools and power tools, including but not limited to snips, punch down tools, wire strippers, cordless drills, and personal protective equipment (hard hats, boots, and safety glasses).
Understanding of BICSI and NEC Standards is preferred.
Willingness to work day or night shifts based on client requirements.
