Role Summary and Qualifications
As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality surgical care. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the circulating nurse during surgical procedures and managing all major surgical specialty areas. Key duties include preparing sterile supplies and equipment, maintaining the sterile field, and assisting the surgeon by providing necessary instruments and supplies efficiently. You will adhere to established standards and policies throughout your work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and gather necessary equipment and supplies for assigned procedures based on physician preferences and patient needs.
- Prepare equipment according to manufacturer specifications for surgical use.
- Open sterile packs and instruments while following aseptic techniques.
- Monitor the sterile field during procedures and take corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare medications and solutions under the guidance of the Registered Nurse.
- Maintain accountability for surgical instruments and ensure no foreign objects are left in the surgical site.
- Follow safety protocols during all procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent experience in a hospital setting.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist is required for those entering practice after a specified date.
