Athletic Trainer

The Athletic Trainer is a key member of our team at Crystal Clinic, responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support in the clinic setting and beyond. This role requires a strong foundation in athletic training principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Physicians and/or Mid-level Providers in the clinic setting, hospital, and DME department
- Fitting and education of DME as prescribed by the physician
- Application and removal of casts, coordination of DME program, and liaison between staff, physician, and DME supervisor and manager
- General maintenance of equipment, supplies, and exam rooms
- Ensure proper patient forms are complete, current, and entered into the computer
- Check EMR for progress notes and stat orders, prepare charge tickets, and act on stat orders
- Enter DME charges with appropriate modifiers based on insurance requirements
- Athletic Trainer will obtain authorizations from insurance companies for patient durable medical equipment
- Checks patients' insurance benefits and provides detailed explanation of coverage and benefits to the patients per DME guidelines
- Fits patients with prescribed orthosis, including patient evaluation, modification, and fitting, training the patient on fit and function, and answering any DME questions
- Schedules DME appointments for patients and sends referrals to the appropriate vendor based on insurance restrictions
- Provides back-up coverage and assists in daily office routine when needed in other areas
- Monitors and maintains office equipment, orders office supplies, orthopaedic/medical equipment, and supplies
- Cleans, sterilizes, and stocks/maintains examination rooms and equipment
- Athletic Trainer will maintain cleanliness of all clinical areas and exam rooms, restocks and orders supplies within budgetary constraints, checks and cleans equipment, makes minor adjustments, and reports need for repair or maintenance to manager
- Assist physicians and/or physician's assistant with special procedures, gathers necessary equipment and instruments, positions patient, and responds to instructions given by physician or mid-level provider
- Removal of dressing and wraps, application and removal of casts and splints, application and patient education on DME
- Gathers necessary data and instructional materials for discharged patients, ensures that patient is aware of any necessary follow-up appointment times and locations
- Provides patient education on physician's plan of care, ensures charge tickets are marked appropriately for equipment and supplies are given to patient
- Attends in-services and departmental meetings
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited university athletic training program
- Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated experience as an Athletic Trainer or related field preferred
- Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Current license issued by the Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy/Athletic Training (OTPTAT) Board to practice Athletic Training in the State of Ohio required; Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC), Inc. for Athletic Trainers, preferred; BLS required
Minimum 24 hours per month, Per Diem (PRN) Variable
