Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) in Scranton. As a Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing and reporting various analyses from multiple specimen sources, providing the highest level of patient care, and maximizing patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain an expected level of productivity and manage multiple work processes efficiently.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and handle specimens properly.
  • Confirm identification and specimen suitability, and use appropriate accessioning procedures.
  • Recognize discrepancies on patient orders and resolve and report problems and solutions.
  • Record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control, and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
  • Follow established reporting procedures, computerized, verbal, and manual, and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new employees and participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or a related field.
