The role of a Nursing Assistant at Essentia Health is to provide direct and compassionate care to patients in the Med/Surg unit, ensuring their safety and comfort under the supervision of nursing staff.

Responsibilities include providing personal hygiene assistance, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining a clean environment, while also handling administrative tasks to support unit operations.

This position requires completion of a certified nurse aide training program and BLS certification, aligning with Essentia's mission to make a healthy difference in people's lives.

Becoming part of Essentia's accomplished team means contributing to high-quality, compassionate care for patients. As a Nursing Assistant, you will be responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving their needs in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort.

Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to:

  • Providing personal hygiene care
  • Assisting with nutritional needs
  • Providing comfort care and other assistance
  • Appropriately and safely transferring patients
  • Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
  • Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
  • Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process

You will work within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

In addition, this position promotes efficient unit function and indirect resident care. Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling.

To qualify for this role, you must have verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program or current registration on an applicable state nursing assistant registry.

Certification requirements include BLS certification or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date.

This is a 0.3 FTE opportunity with possible remote/hybrid option.

Essential skills and qualifications include experience in patient care, CNA, healthcare, vital signs, hygiene care, hospital, compassionate care, med/surg, medical support.

Estimated annual salary range: $35,000 - $45,000, depending on location and experience.
