Position Overview

The Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for performing advanced imaging procedures using computed tomography technology. This role involves producing high-quality sectional and three-dimensional images for diagnostic interpretation and assisting in various interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Certification Requirements: Team members are required to obtain ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of employment and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months.
  • Imaging Procedures: Execute complex CT imaging procedures while utilizing professional judgment to assess and document the patient's clinical history.
  • Patient Interaction: Prepare and review contrast questionnaires with patients and their families, ensuring accurate information is recorded.
  • Contrast Administration: Identify and administer contrast media as prescribed by licensed practitioners, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Prescription Verification: Review patient prescriptions for appropriateness and communicate with Radiologists and Referring Physicians as necessary.
  • Insurance Coordination: Verify insurance authorization for exams and manage modifications as needed.
  • Study Management: Obtain and schedule outside studies to ensure availability for Radiologists.
  • Radiograph Evaluation: Utilize PACS to evaluate radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic quality.
  • Patient Preparation: Ensure patients are adequately prepared for procedures, including the use of shielding and immobilization devices.
  • Monitoring: Observe patients for any adverse reactions during imaging procedures.
Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning.
  • Familiarity with CT software and hardware mechanics.
  • Proficient in using PACS systems.
  • Maintain continuing education credits as required.
  • Preferred: Six months of experience in CT imaging and knowledge of Epic and other HIS/RIS systems.
Work Schedule
  • Flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, with potential overtime as needed.
  • On-call assignments may be required in accordance with departmental policies.
Additional Information

This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs and stand for extended periods. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the diverse needs of the patient population served.
