Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, the primary function of this role is to provide diagnostic, preventive, and corrective dental services at a high level of quality and efficacy. Additional responsibilities include administrative tasks related to patient care, documentation of clinical and electronic contact with patients, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and HIPAA standards.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums, and related oral structures, as well as provide preventive and corrective services.
  • Examine teeth, the periodontium, and related tissues using dental instruments, x-rays, and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.
  • Analyze and evaluate dental needs to determine changes and trends in patterns of dental disease.
  • Formulate and present periodontal, restorative, and maintenance treatment plans and effectively present these plans to patients.
  • Administer anesthetics for pain control.
  • Prescribe medications as needed to control disease and alleviate pain.
  • Perform basic restorative procedures, including composite and amalgam fillings.
  • Design, prepare, and fit prosthodontic appliances, such as crowns, and fixed and removable dentures.
  • Perform simple and surgical tooth extractions.
  • Perform root canal therapy on anterior, pre-molar, and selected molar teeth.
  • Meet or exceed published productivity and quality standards.
  • Comply with OSHA safety standards and follow universal precautions to protect themselves and patients from infectious diseases and other harmful agents.
  • Communicate effectively and accurately in the electronic dental record with all sub-departments involved in patient care.
  • Participate in Dental Center improvements aimed at operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Administrator, Clinical Manager, and Operations Manager.
Qualifications:

Current NYS Dental License, Current DEA Registration Certificate, Documentation of current HBV vaccination status, Current Professional Liability Insurance with 1M/3M coverage, and no current or pending disciplinary actions with the NYS Office of Professionals.

Requirements:

Detail-oriented, ability to prioritize workload, effective communication of simple and complex health issues, strong commitment to improving patient oral health, strong communication and interpersonal skills, team player, outstanding work ethic, and employment record.

Computer skills must include Word, Excel, and accurate and timely documentation in an electronic dental record.

Language Skills: Speak, read, write, and understand English.

Reasoning Ability: Analyze, assess, recommend, and implement solutions to complex dental issues or problems with minimal supervisory intervention.
