The Trustees of Reservations, a renowned conservation organization in Massachusetts, seeks an Inland Ecology Technician to join their team. This limited-term position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection and management of key species and native habitats across the state.
In this role, you will assist with plant monitoring, ecological research, and stewardship activities to support biodiversity and climate adaptation of these ecosystems. You will work closely with the Lead Ecologist for Inland Natural Resources and the Habitat Specialist on invasive plant control efforts.
This is a 14-week position, expected to begin in May and continue through August. As an Inland Ecology Technician, you will have the chance to learn about and participate in modern stewardship challenges facing land managers today, especially those exacerbated by climate change.
Key responsibilities include surveying rare plant populations, mapping and assessing invasive species, conducting vegetation surveys, and analyzing data to inform future management actions.
A successful candidate should have a strong foundation in botany, ecology, or environmental science, as well as excellent botanical skills and the ability to identify Massachusetts plant species. Previous field experience, particularly in vegetation surveys and invasive plant control, is preferred but not required.
The salary for this position is approximately $16.50-$19 per hour, based on location and experience. The full-time position includes benefits such as housing (may be available), sick time, vacation time, floating holidays/personal days, health insurance, employee assistance program, reciprocity, and discounts.
