Job Summary:

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Worker to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and security of our buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all floors, including cleaning and polishing
  • Provide scheduled general cleaning to maintain building appearance, safety, and security
  • Empty trash and recyclables
  • Perform minor building maintenance, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and other related activities
  • Inspect and notify management of needs for major repairs, safety, or security issues
  • Advise direct supervisor of janitorial and building supply needs
  • Provide routine outside maintenance, including cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks
  • Follow schedule for cleaning windows, furniture, and floor polishing
  • Set up furniture for meetings as required
  • Assist with receiving donations and seasonal activities

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years' experience in maintenance field preferred
  • Certifications/Licenses: None
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in building-related skills and trades
    • Ability to read and understand schedules, work orders, and product safety information
    • Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet work schedules on a timely basis with minimal direct supervision
    • Ability to operate basic maintenance equipment, including hand tools
    • Ability to work irregular and extended hours when required
    • Willingness to accept on-call assignments during building emergencies
    • Position requires a confident, self-motivated, multi-tasked individual with integrity in the use of resources
    • Act in a manner consistent with the Mission of The Salvation Army

Working Conditions:

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors; may require irregular and/or extended hours on occasion.
