Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Huntsville Hospital Health System. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist, produce high-quality radiographs on all patient age groups.
  • Explain procedures to patients, position and immobilize patients for procedures, and select appropriate technical factors for specific body parts.
  • Review images for quality and accuracy of positioning, and willingly assist in Radiology or other departments within Imaging as needed.
  • Assist Radiologists with invasive procedures, including setting up rooms properly, practicing sterile technique, and labeling items on trays according to Joint Commission standards.
  • Maintain patient and personal safety by providing radiation protection to patients, practicing personal radiation safety measures, and following principles of good body mechanics when lifting.
  • Administer appropriate contrast media as directed by Radiologists, including administering IV contrast, assessing patients for possible contrast media sensitivity, and performing venipuncture as required.
  • Complete exams timely in PACS, properly perform procedures for making patient CDs, and verify that written physician orders match orders in PACS.
  • Prioritize sequences of exams to complete procedures in the shortest amount of time, take precautions to ensure that positioning for ordered examinations do not exacerbate patients' injuries, and produce quality images with maximum image detail.
Qualifications
  • Must have satisfactorily completed an AMA-approved Radiologic Technologist training program and be eligible for ARRT registry.
  • No experience required, but preferred.
  • BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
